The authors of this paper discovered that SSDs exhibit a number of incorrect behaviors after a power fault. Which of these behaviors could be potentially tolerated by a file system running on top of that SSD, in a reasonably efficient way, and which are difficult to deal with?
The authors mention that some problems arise due to the physical effects of power faults on flash memory. Which of the incorrect behaviors fall in this category, and is it reasonable to expect for firmware in the SSD to mask these physical effects (if the firmware was not buggy), or is it likely to be too expensive?
